Director of Formation for Youth & Young Adults

We seek a faithful, energetic, relational leader to actively nurture the faith and discipleship of our young people, to develop a clear and long-term vision for youth, college, and young adult ministries, and to lead and equip others in bringing that vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Relationship

  • Lead and supervise ministries for youth (6th-12th grades), college students, and young adults (20s & 30s)

  • Lead, mentor, and build relationships with youth and young adults

  • Nurture their lives of faith and discipleship through teaching, fellowship, prayer, and action

  • Cultivate safe, fun, and energetic spaces for these ministries to thrive

  • Assist in connecting youth and young adults with relational mission in our wider community

  • Contribute vision, leadership, and care to our growing parish

 

Program Management & Administration

  • Develop clear vision and future plans for sustainable and meaningful ministries

  • Build and engage teams of interns and volunteers to support these programs

  • Plan and lead consistent, engaging, and impactful program sessions

  • Work as part of a team with clergy and lay staff

  • Offer pastoral support to youth and young adults in consultation with clergy

  • Maintain strong practices of organization and communication

  • Coordinate the activities of youth and young adult ministries in harmony with the wider life of the parish


Position Details 

  • Reports to the Rector

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week; 20 days paid personal leave annually

  • Base Salary: $45,000-$49,000

  • Health insurance, life insurance, and CPG pension benefits provided per canons of the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Alabama

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of three years experience working with youth and/or young adults

  • Deep personal faith supported by intentional practices

  • Background of working or serving in the Episcopal Church

  • Strong communication skills across multiple platforms
