Communications Director
In order to share the life and mission of our church with one another and our wider community, we seek a skilled and dedicated professional to manage, publish, and improve our parish communications. Our Communications Director will be the chief storyteller of our parish and a core member of our staff, responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly communications, our website and social media presence, and the implementation of our long-term plans to update our communication practices.

Ideal Candidate
An ideal candidate will be invested in the mission and community of our church, work well as a member of a team, and possess the technical knowledge to produce consistent, effective communication materials across various media. They will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to work to a deadline. Finally, they will have notable strengths in the areas of writing, layout, and design.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Responsibilities
maintain regular office hours, attend weekly staff meetings, stay in close contact with staff and volunteer ministry leaders
Website (SquareSpace)
regularly update content and images, improve website functionality, organic search engine optimization
Email Campaigns (Mailchimp)
publish weekly email newsletter and manage additional email campaigns as needed
Print Newsletter (Canva)
layout, print, and mail monthly newsletter
Sunday Livestream (Boxcast)
schedule weekly livestreams and manage rotation of volunteers
Organic Social Media (Meta)
regular posts, content strategy, content calendar
Google Business Profile
update and monitor
Other Print Assets
build up resources such as information pamphlets for newcomers about various ministry areas
Digital Analytics
monitor analytics across digital platforms and make recommendations to adjust strategies
Photography
work with volunteers and staff to get quality photographs for publication
Parish Events
attend social and outreach events and assist as needed
Position Details
Reports to the Rector
Full-time: 40 hours per week; 20 days paid personal leave annually
Base Salary: $45,000-$48,000
Health insurance, life insurance, and CPG pension benefits provided per canons of the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Alabama

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Relevant professional experience
Ability to work across platforms listed above
Strong interpersonal skills
Desire to work and serve in an Episcopal Church
